Chillin' in the sunshine

Y'all.... I can't post much at the moment, but I know you won't sweat it because all of my pics are of events you were probably at. But here's something to tide you over.

The Fam:

The Valley of the Sun:

Merry Christmas! Happy New Year!

Ah, home.

Friday night, all was well. The MTA hadn't gone on strike (yet), I delivered the package, and the workday was unusually lax. We wrapped it up with some Secret Santa.

Everybody got hats.

Then we all took the F-train downtown and had dinner together.

Later, Dustin and I shared Xmas gifts and watched the final 4 hours of "24."

By the next evening, I was home safe in the Christmas haven (missing only the smell of the tree, later replaced by potpourri).

Mom and I had the next day together to shop and chill with Grandma, who had been busy baking.

Then we saw a beast of a truck, also known as the embodiment of class.

I went to school with Mom the next day,

then got some wheels from Dad and rode around town with Greg in his Nova.

It's good to be back with the fam.

Whew.

Last coupla days have been... busy. Last night I was supposed to go to The Big Tree with Jennifer and give her her Christmas gift, but alas, work would not allow. Had to work late.

Luckily Sarra and I are a fabulous team, so we only had to stay until 10, rather than one of us staying until 2am as we would have to if either of us were lone assistants. I found that due to the possible MTA strike the next day, I would have to hand-deliver a package to midtown by 9am... by walking in the rain from my house. I rushed home in a cab to pack and get to sleep so I could wake up early enough to deliver the package. On the way home, I took a breath and appreciated the Christmas-y loveliness around me.

Got home, packed, and went to bed. I woke up this morning and it was 50 degrees outside (much better than the 30 I expected) and barely raining. I turned on the radio just before I left and heard that the MTA is only on a partial strike, not affecting the subways, at least for now. I got the package there 10 minutes early, and got to work stress-free. Tonight's the big PS 260 Christmas party and tomorrow I hopefully will make it to the airport on time and without hassle.

Thank you MTA. Just know that I love you.

Fun With Technology!

Maury decided one day that Sarra and I should be in the editing room more often. That way, we can get in on the action, see how to interact with clients (pssh, as if we're not charming enough), and learn more about the process in general. So we got a cool little white table and red chair and a fancy-schmancy new computer to work on... our own little work station, looking right out to the Empire State Building and, in the distance, the Chrysler Building (my fave).

With this new computer comes a cool little function called "Photo Booth." You turn it on and this teeny camera (nearly a spy camera) embedded in the monitor turns on and you can take pics. Sarra and I were thrilled, as we both hope to become America's Next Top Model.

You can even take secret pics when no one (or almost no one) in the room knows you're watching.

And you can bet that Maury and Bryan were excited about the new addition too!!! (they're glamour guys at heart.)

Christmas in the air!

Ah, the beautiful sights and smells of December in New York City. Roasted peanuts, Christmas trees sold on the street, even the cold itself seems to have a fragrance. This weekend I was very productive, getting all of my shopping done and even building a $30 piece-of-crap table for my bedroom. But first, the natural and industrial beauty of New York come together to be seen from the roof of P.S. 260:

On Thursday, I went to a Christmas party held by one of our sound mixing houses, Sound Lounge. My cute friend Nicole looked so much like Shirley McClaine in "The Apartment" that I had to capture her image digitally.

We practiced our doe-eyes together to amuse Mitch.

The next morning, I walked out of my building to find the city covered in a blanket of snow, and more falling very gently. It's still a surreal experience to me to see snow falling down.

Doesn't it look so cold? Yeah, it felt it. Over the weekend I got all of my Christmas shopping done and finished up with a visit to The Tree In Rockefeller Center. I didn't get very close this time; hopefully after the holidays the crowd will die down a bit. Dern tourists.

The building across the way was lit with "snowflakes" that blinked in time to music.

And even Cartier got festive.

Finally, I've gotta say I'm living the good life, full of New York food. The classic Gray's Papaya chili dog:

And the best bagel in the world, from H&H (also celebrating Festivus):

God Bless New York City.

Welcome to this lovely world.

Hello. Welcome to my photo blog. It was created for you. Here's a couple of timely photos to start us off.

From the old-fashioned candy shoppe next to my house:

Winter takes no prisoners; it steals even the leaves.

O the subway during rush hour!

I'll try to post once a day or so... there's always something wonderful to see in this world (especially the New York world).
