Office Retreat, Hamptons Style!

Alas! The summer is fast ending! It's a good thing that stellar PS260 assistant Reilly invited the entire company to his house in the Hamptons last weekend!

Not everyone was able to make it, but we got a good group of 18 employees at the house! Friday night found the first set of people preparing in the kitchen - packing chips and drinks etc. for the train ride out.

Soon we were on our way, PS260 in full force!

With a big hat!

Many times riding the LIRR I have found myself annoyed by a large group of friends laughing loudly and making a ruckus on the train. This time, I got to be on the fun side of the equation!

Including the adorable Borgman siblings.

We were definitely annoying.

Soon we'd taken over the whole car.

But after a short 2.5 hour ride, we had arrived at the Reilly super casa. We quickly took over the kitchen.

And then the couch, to hang out and relax, as we'd all had a long day at work and a long train ride there.

But by the light of the morning, the glory of the Reilly house shone bright! This place was Gorgeous!

We took advantage of the saltwater pool, splashing around and tanning (not me, of course) for hours in the sun.

Our host with the most, Reilly.

Impressively, our new receptionist Eric even came out with us for the weekend - after just one week on the job! We got to know him right quick.

The first of several cameos this weekend, one of PS260's owners, JJ, showed up with his family and bagels for everyone.

The kids (adorable!) jumped right in.

At some point, Momo picked up a hula hoop and realized it's a great ab exercise. And proceeded to hula hoop for 10 straight minutes, to the delight of most of the male coworkers present.

Soon everyone got into it (though presumably not for the exercise)!

Most impressively, I did too! This is a big feat because for some reason, before this weekend, I've never been able to hula hoop! I was super excited.

We relaxed, and played.

And ate some great fresh fruit and other snacks.

Then, the unthinkable. We quickly realized that the area was infested with wasps. And not WASPs, like preppies you'd expect to see in the Hamptons, I mean actual, stinging wasps.

They stung JJ's little boy TWICE. Fortunately, we got them back by inadvertently luring them into the sweet nectar of iced tea, where they quietly drowned.

JJ's daughter proudly informed us that she'd just won Best Dancer at camp! So, naturally, she and Momo had a dance-off.

After a good few hours, we were ready for lunch. Part of the group had gone to the grocery store for the weekend's needs, and returned with nourishment for us all.

Then it was off to the beach! We all somehow piled into Reilly's pickup truck (even with surfboards) and took a leisurely drive over to the local shore.

We had a grand old time splashing around in the icy, exciting waves of the Atlantic.

Later I realized that one big, bad wave and half of PS260's staff would have to be replaced. I don't think our boss would be up to it!

After our rollicking, we returned to chill out in the sun, pose heroically, and/or play soccer.

Oh Hamptons, you so dreamy.

I still can't believe we got so many of our company out there that weekend.

Sundown = BBQ. Evann Borgmann organized everything deftly, swiftly, deliciously.

No company BBQ would be complete without a campfire!

Oh, did I mention the wasps?

Second in our list of cameos was Maury, who showed up with his lovely wife and had some dinner with us (and silly faces).

Also making an appearance was final co-partner John, who showed with his girlfriend for a glass of wine and campfire stories.

Evann used her handy miner's light to execute the perfect steak campout meal.

While I found the most perfect cherry that ever existed. Look! It looks like it's straight outta Pac Man!

Somewhere, Momo escaped and sat alone on the bridge...

But quickly returned for s'mores and more stories.

The next morning, well... I'm sure you can guess what went with our morning coffee.

... and more great food (leftover steaks etc.)

... and chillin'...

... and rides to the beach...

Uh oh! This sign looks serious! Life is so hard in the Hamptons.

Soon it was sunscreenin' and wave-ridin'.

Waves! Birds!

And after the rough waves, we all had to take a little rest.

And reapply the SPF. I generously tended to the assembly line.

Riding back to the house, I half-expected to see some Von Trapp children hanging off of these trees.

And more relaxing, this time with hair stylin'.

And all too soon, after a valiant team effort of cleaning the house and backyard, it was time to go home. Back to the train station we went.

What a great, amazing, obscenely relaxing weekend. Close quarters and forced togetherness really let us get to know each other! Fortunately, there was no drama, no fights, no injuries, no drownings, and no resulting pregnancies (that we know of!).

Thanks to Momo, Dustin and Ned for supplementing my photos of the weekend, and to the new iPhone for the super cool Polaroid effect!

But most importantly, many many big thanks to Reilly and his family for having us over to their majestic house for such a fun weekend.

love,
*jenna*
